WWW.YOURMD.ONLINE Telehealth Prescription/RX Policy

Policy Statement:

Here at www.yourmd.online, we value the professional judgment, expertise, and experience of our physician partner, United Medical Group. However, we also recognize the potential risks associated with certain medications, such as drug abuse and dependency. To mitigate these risks, we have developed a prescription drug policy for our telehealth platform, www.yourmd.online. Patients who can do a video consultation and do the required testing as part of their evaluation may be able to get multiple refills on safe medications.

Policy Details:

Video and Audio Consultation:

Patients who wish to access our telehealth services must undergo a video/audio consultation with one of our healthcare providers. During the consultation, the provider will evaluate the patient's medical condition and determine if it is appropriate to prescribe medication.

Required Testing:

To ensure that patients receive safe and appropriate care, certain diagnostic tests may be required as part of the telehealth evaluation. These tests will be determined by the healthcare provider based on the patient's medical history and current condition.

Multiple Refills:

Patients who have undergone a video consultation and the required testing may be eligible for multiple refills for medications that are considered safe from a telehealth practice standpoint. The number of refills will be determined by the healthcare provider and will depend on the patient's medical condition and treatment plan.

Medications Considered Safe for Telehealth Practice:

Medications that are considered safe for telehealth practice will be determined by our healthcare providers based on the patient's medical history, current condition, and treatment plan. These medications may include, but are not limited to, medications for chronic conditions, mental health, and minor acute illnesses. Scheduled medications, such as those classified by the DEA as having the potential for abuse or dependency, will not be prescribed through our telehealth platform.

Exceptions:

Exceptions to this policy may be made at the discretion of the healthcare provider in cases where a physical examination or in-person evaluation is necessary to ensure safe and appropriate care. Certain specialty-specific medications may be prescribed by providers in certain specialties (such as psychiatry or neurology) with prior approval from our medical experts and an update to our prescription policy.

Antibiotics and Steroids:

Our providers will be encouraged to avoid overprescribing antibiotics, especially for viral illnesses, as this can contribute to the development of drug resistance in the community. The use of antibiotics will be based on medical necessity and treatment benefit, as determined by our providers with guidance from United Medical Group's medical experts. Steroids may be prescribed for certain medical conditions, such as COPD or asthma exacerbation, but their use will be closely monitored by United Medical Group's medical experts to prevent risks or harm to patients.

Inappropriate Medications:

Medications such as blood thinners are considered inappropriate to prescribe on our telehealth platform, as they require careful monitoring and management in a controlled setting such as a clinic or hospital. Treatments for certain conditions, such as erectile dysfunction, may require referral to a specialist, and prescriptions for uncontrolled hypertension or diabetes will not be provided on our platform.

Sexual Health and Birth Control:

Treatments for sexually transmitted diseases will require local testing and treatment in a clinic, urgent care, or emergency room. Birth control can be refilled but not initiated on our platform.

Additional Categories of Medications:

In addition to the medications mentioned above, our providers may prescribe medications for the following categories:

Treatment for hair loss prevention

Preventive healthcare treatments

Obesity management medications

Conclusion:

This policy is designed to ensure that patients who access our telehealth services receive safe and appropriate care. By adhering to this policy, we can provide patients with the medications
